Gardening Club Prepares for the Next Growing Season

Four gardening club members standing on a tilled section of the allotment, smiling and dressed warmly in outdoor attire.

Gardening club came together for another productive day on the allotment, making significant progress in preparing the ground for next year’s growing season. The weather was ideal – fresh and cool, with dry ground that made digging easier for everyone.

With spades in hand, the team worked tirelessly, turning over the soil and clearing the area to ready it for planting in the coming months. Their hard work was evident in the freshly dug beds. Although a lot was achieved, there’s still much work left to do to ensure a fruitful year.

The team effort didn’t go unnoticed, as each member contributed their time and energy to make sure the plot was as prepared as possible. After a fulfilling morning, everyone gathered for lunch at Enablement Care, where they enjoyed a well-deserved break before heading home!

🧵 Thursday Afternoon Crafts – Chocolate Toffee Apples 🍫🍏

A close-up image of chocolate-covered toffee apples. The apples are coated in a shiny layer of chocolate with a smooth toffee layer underneath. They are skewered with wooden sticks and displayed on a rustic surface. One of the apples has a bite taken out of it, revealing the bright green interior of the apple. The chocolate coating is decorated with sprinkles and drizzled caramel, creating a visually indulgent and appetizing treat.

This is an additional session to the morning session at Enablement Care and is held at the Community Hub (8 Brook St, Sutton in Ashfield).

It will be held at the community hub on Thursday afternoons from 12 pm to 2 pm, run by volunteers and service users.

The price is £2.50 per session, and you can bring cash on the day.

Open to all service users!

Gardening Club – Clearing Weeds and Nettles!

It was another productive day with AW, AB, TG, Lisa, and Anthony. We made significant progress in clearing the thick weeds and nettles along the walkways, making the area much more pleasant and safer to walk through. Lisa, AB, and TG helped plant radish seeds in the raised beds and harvested some lettuce for Wednesday’s salad. AW prepared a small plot and planted sweet corn, while AB prepared the ground and planted two courgette plants.

We wrapped up our efforts at Enablement Care, where we recharged with a delicious lunch of meatloaf and dessert.

Walking Club Ventures to Dovedale!

The weather was perfect today for the walking club’s excursion to Dovedale. After applying plenty of sunscreen, we set off on our walk. Some group members were initially apprehensive about crossing the stepping stones over the river. Still, their worry quickly turned to excitement once they successfully made it across and realised what they had accomplished.

Upon reaching the top of the hill, we enjoyed a delightful picnic prepared by Donna, our wonderful cook at Enablement Care. The picnic featured delicious sandwiches, refreshing soft drinks, and a much-needed sugar boost from some biscuits. The scenery was breathtaking, making for a thoroughly wonderful day out.

Dovedale is certainly a place we would love to revisit!

The Latest from Walking Club – Thanks to Cayton and Louise!

We had a delightful day at Newstead Abbey, with perfect weather and just the right temperatures. Unlike our usual A-to-B walks, today’s stroll was leisurely and unstructured, allowing us to truly appreciate the beauty around us. We soaked in the vibrant colours, captivating smells, and rich history of the surroundings. Even the most anxious members of our group were beaming with smiles and appeared quite relaxed as we explored!

As always, we concluded our adventure at the teashop, where we enjoyed our packed lunches alongside tea, coffee, and delicious cakes – with some of us indulging in seconds. It was a 10/10 day!

Celebrating Person-Centred Care 2024: The votes are in!

Thank you to all who attended the staff meetings at the back end of last month.

During this time, you were all asked to nominate a staff member who you felt deserved a special mention for their commitment to the people we support, dedication to the company and an overall team player.

We can now share with you all that the votes have been counted, and it was inspirational to read the words you all said about one another.

It was a close vote!

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Catherine, community support worker and Melissa, night care worker. Your colleagues had wonderful words to say about you, and we, as a management team, can say the same.

Catherine, your colleagues said that you were committed to the people you support, nothing is too much trouble, you always strive to make sure that goals and outcomes are achieved.

Melissa, your colleagues said you were an all rounder, you lead a shift as a shift lead should, you have the residents best interest at the heart of what you do.

Congratulations to you both!

Please come to the office on Wednesday 1st May at 645pm to celebrate your achievements.
