Belper Walk with Walking Club

On our most recent walking club adventure, we set out to explore the nearby town of Belper. Known for its rich industrial heritage and picturesque surroundings, Belper always makes for a fab’ destination. The walk took us through the heart of the town, with plenty of time to admire its historic mill buildings and gorgeous landscapes. Along the way, we stumbled upon a fun and quirky stop – a larger-than-life statue of the one and only Mr Potato Head!! It made for some great photo opportunities and plenty of laughs!

The Walking Club is a wonderful way to connect with nature, meet like-minded people, and explore the beautiful local areas. Our walks vary in difficulty, but we always make sure there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll or a more challenging hike, our club offers a relaxed, friendly atmosphere for all abilities.

If you’re a service user and you’d like to join us on future walks, please get in touch! We meet every Tuesday, and our next adventure will take us to another great location nearby. Simply bring comfortable walking shoes, a bottle of water, and a sense of adventure.

We look forward to welcoming new faces to the group!

Cooking Sessions at the Community Hub – Update

Here’s some fab pictures of one of our recent cooking sessions at the Community Hub!

After discussing with staff and service users, we’ve decided on the costs for our Wednesday sessions. From October onwards, there will be a £2 contribution toward the ingredients for our 2-course meals, which includes the main dish and a pudding.

On the white coffee table in front of her, there is a can of Sprite and some scattered papers. Another person is seated next to her, slightly out of view, wearing a blue shirt.

Refreshments will continue to be charged as they have been previously.

Tuesday Walking Club Conquers Mam Tor!!

Below, there is an information board about Mam Tor, referred to as the 'Mother Hill,' including details about its geology and history. A warning sign beneath it advises visitors to be cautious of cliff edges and to keep children under close supervision. The other person, with blonde hair and wearing a grey t-shirt, is eating a snack and looking towards the camera. Backpacks and a pink water bottle are placed on the table. The area is fenced, and sunlight filters through the trees, casting light and shadow across the scene.
Picnic Time!

Our walking club recently embarked on an incredible adventure to the top of Mam Tor, also known as the “Mother Hill.” Nestled in the heart of the High Peak, this spot offers some of the most stunning panoramic views in the Peak District. The weather was on our side, with blue skies and a gentle breeze guiding us to the summit.

She is wearing a light pink jacket over a butterfly-patterned shirt and a pastel scarf, with wind blowing her hair. A wooden fence and grassy area are visible behind her.

With enthusiasm and excitement, we followed the well-trodden paths to the peak. Along the way, we admired the wild beauty of the surrounding hills and valleys, breathing in the fresh air that comes with being surrounded by nature. At the summit, we were greeted by 360-degree views stretching far and wide across the Peak District National Park. It was the perfect spot to rest, take in the scenery, and capture some photos!

She is wearing a light pink jacket, a butterfly-patterned shirt, and a pastel scarf, with her hair being gently blown by the wind. The ground is made of cobblestone, and other people can be seen sitting and admiring the view in the distance under a partly cloudy sky.

Our walking club is not just about fitness and exploring nature; it’s also about building community and creating friendships. The camaraderie shared as we reached the top, smiling with pride at our achievement, is what makes these walks so amazing!

A Wonderful Tuesday Walk at Shipley Country Park

A group of people walking down a peaceful, tree-lined path in a forested area. The tall trees on either side of the path provide a canopy of green, and the group is seen walking ahead in the distance, enjoying the natural surroundings.
A small group of walkers sitting outside on a stone bench area near a green lawn. Two individuals are seated on a bench, while another stands beside them, smiling. It is a relaxed moment after the walk with greenery and trees in the background.

Walking club recently had the pleasure of exploring the beautiful paths of Shipley Country Park, covering a distance of about three miles. What made this walk truly special was that it was led by one of our members, who is usually quite reserved. However, this time, she stepped up confidently, guiding us all on a scenic route with ease and grace.

Two women seated on a wooden bench, smiling at the camera. Both are wearing comfortable casual clothes, suggesting they are taking a break after the walk in a relaxed outdoor setting.

As we walked, we were able to enjoy the stunning views, including a glimpse of the old Shipley Hall, a historical gem in the heart of the park. The weather was kind to us, with the rain staying away, making for perfect walking conditions.

A man smiling and sitting on an outdoor exercise machine in a park. He appears to be having fun as he uses the equipment. The surrounding area is wooded, with leaves scattered on the ground.

After our refreshing walk, we gathered at the park café to enjoy our packed lunches, along with some well-deserved coffees, cakes, and sausage rolls. The lively conversations and shared laughter over lunch made it a fun end to our outing.

Two women are smiling as they lean against a brick wall outdoors. One is standing, and the other is seated, both appearing happy and relaxed. Behind them is a green, open area with trees and bushes.

Everyone left in high spirits, albeit a little tired from the day’s activities. It was such an enjoyable experience that we’re already planning our return for another day. The group’s enthusiasm and the confidence shown by our wonderful leader made this walk one to remember!

Gardening Club Adventures: A Rainy Day Turned Into a Blooming Success!

Our Monday Gardening Club is always a highlight of the week, and this occasion was no different, even with a bit of rain. Although the weather kept us from visiting the allotment, we made the most of the day by heading to Glapwell Garden Centre instead. It turned out to be a wonderful trip!

We spent time browsing the beautiful selection of plants and picked out some vibrant flowers to bring back to Enablement Care. After a bit of shopping, we treated ourselves to a warm, relaxing coffee break before heading back for a hearty lunch. On the menu? A classic ploughman’s lunch, paired with a delicious fruit cobbler for dessert. Everyone enjoyed the meal, and it gave us the energy we needed for the next part of the day.

The weather finally cleared up enough for us to plant the lovely flowers at the front of Enablement Care. It was a satisfying way to end the day, and our new blooms have brought a fresh burst of color to the garden. A big thank you to everyone involved for your hard work and enthusiasm!

We’re looking forward to more gardening adventures soon, rain or shine!
